ブラジル流食べ放題
【10月21日（金）の日記】
会社が午前中で終わり（集合写真撮れず！残念！！）、
「午後何しようかぁ･･･」と同期やもう1人日本から研修を受けに来た
先輩社員と相談してたところ、Alexanderというブラジルから
研修を受けに来ていたクラスメートが「車を借りてシカゴに行く」という。
乗せて～～～！
ってことで、とりあえずお土産を買いに行ったAlexanderを待つことに。
その後にシカゴへ･･･というが、待てど暮らせど帰ってこないAlexander。
結局午後は何もしないまま（フルート吹いたりして時間を潰したりして･･･）
待ちぼうけになってしまった・・・。
で、帰ってきたのは7時半過ぎ。
結局シカゴ市内には繰り出さず、近くでご飯を食べることに。
ぐるぐる回った結果、ブラジル流のステーキ食べ放題のお店に入りました。
この店の仕組みがすごく面白い。
席に着いたらまずサラダとか前菜を取りに行きます。
戻ってきたら各自の席の置いてあるコースターのようなものを
ひっくり返します。
このコースターには 裏表に「No, Thank you」と「Yes, Please」と書いてあります。
最初はNoの方で、ひっくり返すとYesになります。
何に使うかというと、ウェイターの人が肉を持ってうろうろしているのです。
で、Yesの方を示しているお客を見つけると「肉、いる？」って
聞いてきてスライスして渡してくれます。
牛、豚、鳥とバラエティーに富んでて面白いのです。
着席してすぐコースターをひっくり返したところ、
すごい速さでウェイターが来ました。
すべての肉を堪能しようと画策していた俺は「肉、いる？」と
聞かれるたびに「Yes, a little （少しください）」と答えていたわけです。
ちょっとずつもらった肉をせかせか食べていたわけですが、
次から次にウェイターが俺を集中攻撃してきます。
「肉、いる？」「肉？うまいで？」「おにきゅ？」「へい、肉～！」
というまぁ、ラテンのノリでお肉を示してきます。
調子にのって全部少しずつもらっていたわけなんですが、
だんだん食べるペースがもらうペースに追いつかなくなり、
お皿の上に肉が山盛りに・・・・マテマテマテマテ、いくら俺でもこれはムリ！
よく見ると、一緒に席についている人は誰も聞かれてないのです。
俺だけ集中攻撃受けてます。
わけがわからずも、美味しそうだから全部もらいます。
ウェイター配る、俺もらう、ウェイター配る、俺もらうを繰り返すこと数回・・・。
「食べる」というプロセスがだんだんなくなってきた頃に
さすがの俺も疑問を感じたわけです。
なぜだ、おかしい。
俺は今日この店に初めて来た人間だ。
ラテン系に好かれる顔なのか・・・。いや、おかしい。
肉を運んでくるのは全員男性だ。
ラテン系はそちら系が多いのか･･･いや、待て。冷静になれ。
よく周りを観察するんだ・・・注意深く、そして用心に・・・。
・・・って勘のいい方はもうお気づきですね･･･。
例のコースターが「Yes, Please」の方になりっぱなしだったんです。
席に座ってる人、全員「No, Thank you」になってる！！
一声かけてくれよぅ！！涙
という珍騒動の末、自分も「No, Thank you」に戻して
とりあえず山盛りプレートを片付けることに。
後は普通にディナーしてたわけですが、
このレストラン結構かかりまして、1人60ドルくらい取られました。
チップが予想外に高かったのが敗因でした。（苦笑
ただ、このレストランは面白い！！うまいし！
カリフォルニアにあったらまた行きたいなぁ、と思いました。
